London, June 2 (IANS) Young British skateboarder Sky Brown survived a life-threatening ramp accident during a training session in California on Monday. She was airlifted to a hospital where she was reportedly non-responsive initially but is now expected to get better soon.

Brown, who is set to become Britain’s youngest-ever Olympian at the Tokyo Games, suffered skull fractures and a broken left hand and wrist.

“Sky landed head-first off a ramp on her hand. When she first came to hospital, everyone was fearful for her life,” her father Stewart was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

“Sky had the gnarliest fall she’s ever had and is lucky to be alive. She remains positive and strong, the whole medical team is shocked to see her positivity,” he added.

Brown, later, shared the video of her fall on her Instagram account which also included paramedics reaching her and she being airlifted to the hospital.

Despite suffering such a horrific injury, Brown remains upbeat and stated she will be going for gold when Olympics takes place next year.

“I don’t usually post my falls or talk about them because I want people to see the fun in what I do, but this was my worst fall and I just want everyone to know that I’m okay,” Brown said in the video uploaded on her Instagram account.

“It’s okay to fall sometimes. I’m just going to get back up and push even harder. I know there’s a lot going on in the world right now and I want everyone to know that whatever we do we’ve got to do it with love and happiness.

“This will not stop me. I am going for gold in Tokyo 2021. Stay strong. Stay positive.”
