2023 MTV EMA: The official 2023 MTV EMA website revealed the winners’ list on November 6 (KST). Notably, Jungkook won two important categories: “Best Song” and “Best K-pop.”

Jungkook, the Korean solo artist who had the most nominations for the 2023 MTV EMA, is especially noteworthy for being the first Korean solo artist to win two awards in one year.

As the first K-pop solo artist to win the “Best Song” award, Jungkook defeated prominent competitors such as Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift with his solo single “Seven” (feat. Latto). With their popular song “Dynamite,” BTS is the only other K-pop act to win “Best Song” in 2020.

The “Best K-Pop” award, which is given to the best K-pop performer of the year, was likewise won by Jungkook. Since the category’s introduction in 2019, BTS has won the most times as an artist, a record they held for three years until 2021.

Meanwhile, since its July release, Jungkook’s “Seven” has been the number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and has received the quickest one billion plays on Spotify, the biggest music streaming platform in the world. In addition, it remained at the top of the “Global Top Song Daily” chart for 70 days in a row, demonstrating its widespread appeal.

Jungkook just launched his solo album “GOLDEN” on November 3rd, and it is anticipated that he would use a variety of international events to promote the new record.
