Raisen: Three revenue department officials have been placed under suspension in Raisen district in Madhya Pradesh after a photograph showing them holding liquor bottles went viral on social media.

There is a nationwide lockdown across the country till May 3 for the coronavirus outbreak and all liquor shops have been shut down during the period.

“Patwaris Ajay Dhakad, Dharmendra Mehra and Dayaram Arma have been suspended after their photographs holding liquor bottles went viral on social media. It amounts to tarnishing the government”s image,” Bareli Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Brijendra Rawat told PTI on Saturday.

“The three have been attached to Udaipura tehsil headquarters of the district,” he added.

The death toll due to Covid-19 rose to over 500 and the number of cases climbed crossed 15,000 in the country on Saturday, according to the Union Health Ministry.

The exhaustive guidelines detail whether citizens are allowed to move, what industries can function, what items can be sold, what measures are to be followed by workplaces remaining open during the lockdown phase, and more.

The new lockdown rules and regulations will apply until May 3. Some conditional relief may be seen in areas that are not hotspots for the novel coronavirus from April 20.
