50 crows dead, new threat prevails in Rajasthan!

Amid the covid-19 outbreak and a new threat looming over Rajasthan, about 50 crows were found dead in Balaji area of Radi of Jhalawar. It is being suspected that the large number of crows who have died suddenly is due to the new flu- avian flu.

A rapid response team has been constituted to sample the crows and what else is going on in Rajasthan with regards to 50 crows dying simultaneously. The sample will be collected from poultry farms and shops from nearby areas, for now, the shops have been closed temporarily as per the Jhalawar administration.

Due to the fear of what’s going on in the area, a curfew has been imposed in the area of Radi in about one kilometre in Balaji Area of teh Jhalawar district. As the samples are being collected from poultry farms and nearby areas, district collector N Gohain has directed to investigate into the matter.

Things started to go down when on December 25, 2020, 50 crows died in the temple premises. The joint team of forest department and Animal Husbandry department treated teh sick crows and sent samples of the crows to identify what’s going on.

The investigations have confirmed avian influenza in crows, which is spread by infected birds and can easily be spread to humans if exposed to sick birds.
