83.2% Rajasthan businesses find central stimulus ineffective

Published on :

Jaipur, May 30 (IANS) As the fourth phase of lockdown is nearing its end, 83.2 per cent respondents to an online poll said the central stimulus package was “not so effective”. While 15 per cent respondents found it “effective”, 1.8 per cent termed it “very effective”.

The survey, conducted by the FICCI Rajasthan State Council, indicated 27.1 per cent industry respondents were operating at less than 10 per cent capacity, and 32.7 per cent at 10-25 per cent. While 89.7 per cent respondents reported less than 50 per cent capacity utilisation, 2.8 per cent indicated above 75 per cent capacity use.

On the impact of labour migration, 72 per cent said it affected their business.

Ashok Kajaria, Chairman, FICCI Rajasthan State Council, and CMD, Kajaria Ceramics, said lockdown 5.0 or exit 1.0 would bring more positive changes and liberal guidelines as both central and state governments’ thrust was on reviving the economy.

The respondents said the government should waive interest for the lockdown period, extend moratorium for one year and term-loan instalment be deferred till March 31, 2021.

They said the textile industry had been suffering financially since last 2-3 years and a new textile policy was required for the post-Covid regime.

The respondents also advocated direct relief to manufacturers, like relaxation in taxes, electricity charges, facilitation of trade and increase in demand. They said 100 per cent labour option and 24×7 working should be allowed for factories with social distancing.

All manufacturers of non-essential commodities should be provided travel passes with unlimited time to avoid inconvenience of getting passes made every month, they added.
