A Suitable Boy trailer: Ishaan Khatter, Tabu’s romance is beyond words in this Mira Nair series

The much-awaited first trailer of BBC One’s A Suitable Boy TV adaptation, directed by Mira Nair, has been released today. The series is based on the popular novel by Vikram Seth.

The series stars Ishaan Khatter, Tabu, Ram Kapoor, Tanya Maniktala and Rasika Dugal, among others.

A Suitable Boy is based on the story of a spirited university student, Lata, coming of age in North India in 1951, around the same time that the country is preparing for its first general elections, and learning to carve out its own identity following its independence.

The one-minute trailer features several romantic scenes involving Ishaan and Tabu’s characters.

The miniseries is written by Andrew Davies, best known for the original British House of Cards, and directed by Mira Nair.

A Suitable Boy marks the reunion of Tabu and the filmmaker after a gap of 14 years, as they had earlier worked in Mira’s 2006 film The Namesake. The six-part series premieres on BBC One at 9 PM on July 26.
