Aamir Khan, who is one of the renowned actors of Bollywood industry, has been tremendously astonishing the audience with his work since a long time. He not only won hearts of lakhs of people in India but also left a deep impact on the population of China.

About 8 years ago, Aamir Khan was offered a role of an 18-year-old college student by Director Rajkumar Hirani. Though he was 44-yrs-old at that time, he finally made a counter-intuitive decision and signed 3 Idiots.

In an interview for China’s CCTV movie channel, he said, “It was very tough. I was 44 at the time when the film was offered to me. And I told the director, ‘You have a beautiful story. It’s a beautiful script. Don’t spoil it by taking me. And if I play a student of 18 years old, people will laugh at me, and make fun of the film.’ But the director Raju Hirani was very keen to take me and made very clear that he wanted me”.

But who knew the decision is going to be a major hit of his lifetime. 3 idiots, released in 2008, was one of the blockbusters of the time winning millions of heart. In India, the movie remained at the top of the charts with a gross earning of $62 million worldwide. At that time, China was almost an afterthought in the global film business. The aggregate national box office revenue of China was even lower from small countries like South Korea and Canada.

However, 3 idiots set the standards and oddly enough, Aamir Khan gained a foothold among the audience of China. The movie became of the most demanded among the teenagers of China. Youngsters could actually relate themselves with the story line and the life of a college teenager burdened with family pressure and social stigma. The story’s themes of friendship, academic challenge, and nostalgia resonated beautifully with young Chinese viewers.

According to a report in Forbes, not only 3 idiots but several of his movies including Dhoom 3 and PK have been a big hit on the screens of China. Wherein Dhoom 3 earned $3.8 million, PK earned a gross total of $20 million in China. His recent film Dangal collected $173 million in China’s box offices over a month

By now, Aamir Khan has become one of the famous icons of China and has opened the gates of the international markets for Indian filmmakers. Aamir not only makes films with a spectacular story line but he also makes it keeping his audience in mind worldwide, especially China.
