According to a source close to the case, French prosecutors opened an investigation into alleged rape by Paris Saint-Germain fullback Achraf Hakimi on Monday.
A 24-year-old woman has accused the Moroccan international of committing a rape on February 25 at his residence in a Paris suburb.
According to the source, who confirmed a report in Le Parisien, the woman reported the incident to police on Sunday but did not press charges.
AFP contacted PSG, who refused to comment.
Hakimi participated in Morocco’s fourth-place World Cup result in Qatar.
Born in Madrid, his penalty kick secured a 3-0 shootout victory over Spain to propel Morocco into unprecedented territory, with the north African team becoming the first from the Arab world to reach the World Cup quarterfinals.
