Affordable Connectivity Program: A poll by Public Opinion Strategies and RG Strategies found that 78% of people, including 64% of Republicans, 70% of independents, and 95% of Democrats, want the ACP to be extended.

A study from the Chamber of Progress says that if the ACP program ends, subscribers will lose a lot of job prospects, savings on telehealth, and student benefits.

Congress is not moving, so it is not safe for the ACP to move forward, even though it is backed and has clear benefits.

People who get regular help from ACP will lose it in May if nothing is done.

A lot of important people, like President Joe Biden and Sen. J.D. Vance, have called for action right away.

The Affordable Connectivity Program should be extended by senators

Due to the expiration of the ACP, new legislation has been introduced in Congress, breathing new life into the program.

Sen. Ben Ray Luján, chair of the Senate commerce broadband subcommittee, said, “It would be a significant waste of government funds to let this program expire.”

ACP funding has been attached to an existing bill in committee by Sen. Maria Cantwell, a Washington Democrat and chair of the Senate Commerce Committee.

A strategic move such as this demonstrates the commitment to ensuring the continuity of the program. Cantwell said, “It would mean wasting all the time and resources that the federal government and our state and local partners have put into setting up the program and enrolling 23 million households.”

For the ACP to be extended, it is important for both parties to work together.

It is hoped that Sen. Cantwell’s work to add funding for ACP to an already-passed bill will make it possible to keep this important program going.
