After Kerala, now Karnataka schools to ring ‘Water bell’ to keep students hydrated

Following in Kerala’s footsteps, the Karnataka government too gas taken an initiative to keep the school students hydrated throughout the day by introducing ‘water bells’. Soon the schools in Karnataka will ring a bell thrice a day to remind students of drinking water.

Many children end up not drinking water at all while in school. Hence, to keep students hydrated, the bell will be sounded three to four times a day so that they drink sufficient water when they are in school.

The ‘water bell’ would ring in all government schools at 10:35 am, noon and 2 pm every day. Each break will last for 10 minutes and it would be made mandatory for students to drink water at the time.

The water bell initiative first began in Kerala schools, where a special interval is now provided for students to drink water. The initiative began to prevent health issues in children stemming from dehydration. The bell rings twice or thrice in the day, during which it is mandatory for the students to drink water.
