Alathur Lok Sabha Constituency, Kerala: Current MP, Candidates, Polling Date and Election Results

Alathur is one of the 20 constituencies in Kerala to go on polls in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2019 on Tuesday, April 23. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, incumbent MPP K Biju is CPI(M)’s candidate from the seat and will contest against Ramya Haridas of the Indian National Congress.

The voting for Kerala’s 20 parliamentary seats will take place in single phase elections for the 2019 general elections to April 23. The last phase will be held on May 19.

In 2014, PK Biju of the CPI (M) had defeated Congress’ KA Sheeba by more than 37 thousand votes getting 44.41% vote share to Congress’ 40.39%.

Alathur Lok Sabha constituency comprises of following Vidhan Sabha (legislative assembly) segments: Tarur, Chittur, Nemmara, Alathur, Chelakkara, Kunnamkulam, Wadakkanchery

In Phase III of the voting for the 17th Lok Sabha, elections will take place in 115 Lok Sabha constituencies across 14 states. Voting for this phase will take place on April 23. While, like all the other phases, counting will take place on May 23.

Along with Lok Sabha Elections, voting will also take place for the third phase of Odisha Assembly Elections 2019. The turnout in the last general election in 2014 was more than 66%, up from 45% in 1951 when the first election was held.
