Mumbai, Aug 8 (IANS) Marathi actress Amita Khopkar, who has been part of films like “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha” and “Jogwa”, will be seen as a fun-loving and trendy grandmother in the television show “Tara from Satara”.

Amita will essay the role of actor Upendra Limaye’s on-screen mother and ‘Aaji’ (grandmother) of Tara Mane (Roshni Walia).

The show is the story of Tara and her journey from being an aimless woman to finding a purpose in life and Aaji is the only person who supports Tara when entire family thinks of her as a hopeless person.

“I am playing a fun-loving, trendy ‘Aaji’ who not only supports and loves her grand-daughters but also is the Mane family’s backbone. She guides her daughter-in-law, helps her sons in making decisions and also gets mischievous with her grand-daughters, especially Tara,” Amita said.

“When the entire family gets against Tara, thinking of her as just a despairing child, Aaji is the one who trusts and supports her,” she said.
