Mumbai, June 22 (IANS) It’s the 88th birthday anniversary of the late Amrish Puri on Monday, and fans have posted their wishes on social media in fond memory.

“One of the all time greatest actors of Indian cinema. Happy birthday sir,” a user tweeted.

Another fan wrote: “You left a strong impression of every character you played. Happy birthday sir , hope you are in a better place now.”

Apart from wishes, fans flooded social media with images and iconic scenes from his movies.

Amrish Puri is best remembered for his villainous roles — especially Mogambo in “Mr. India”. “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,”, “Karan Arjun”, “Nayak” and “Koyla” are some of his remarkable movies.

He was not only seen in Hindi films but also in Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil.

The iconic villain of Bollywood took his last breath on January 12, 2005. He was 72.

Remembering Amrish Puri, actress Kubbra Sait wrote: “Dear Amrish, some karmic connection I have with you. It’s bizarre. It’s also real. It’s rare, I don’t share this love with people alive. I want to hear your stories even if someone’s been luckier than I to have spent a moment with you or in your aura. Happy Birthday loved one… wherever you are.”
