Andhra Pradesh: Doctors perform open brain surgery while patient was watching ‘Bigg Boss’

The doctors said that it was important to keep Prasad awake while the surgery was performed to monitor his brain activity.

In an unusual incident, a patient in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur was operated on keeping him conscious while he was watching his favourite show ‘Bigg Boss’ and Hollywood film ‘Avatar’. The operation was successful.

According to a report in a Hindi daily, the patient, Vara Prasad underwent open brain surgery to remove glioma and motor cortex. The surgery was performed at the Brinda Neuro Centre in Guntur. The 33-year-old was then discharged from the hospital on Saturday.

The doctors said that it was important to keep Prasad awake while the surgery was performed to monitor his brain activity. Earlier, Vara Prasad was operated in Hyderabad in 2016. However, back then the operation was unsuccessful.
