Andhra Pradesh govt to establish skill development University

Andhra Pradesh government has planned to establish a skill development university to assimilate world-class technologies to match with industrial needs in the state, according to the officials said on Friday, November 29, 2019.

In addition, a total of 25 skill development centers will be set up and each parliamentary constituency will comprise one center.

As per the officials of Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC), the authorities have visited varsities to study the modalities that need to be adopted for the proposed university like Viswakarma University, Bharatiya Skill Development University, Centurian University, etc.

Initial this year, AP govt decided to reserve 75 percent of private jobs for the state’s local youth.

The official said, “The corporation will provide top-notch training through these skill development programmes to the youth. Those trained will get good opportunities in the corporate sector.”

The officials further added, “Over 700 youths got placements in a job drive conducted by Infosys in association with APSSDC in two districts. The placement drive in three more districts in the state are to follow.”

“The state has bagged ASSOCHAM Gold award for the ‘Best State in Skill Development’ and will strive to keep up the standards,” Challa Madhusudan Reddy, chairman of APSSDC, said.
