Kakinada: Seven bookies were arrested on Sunday after a Central Crime Station busted a cricket betting racket. Rs 15 lakh, six line boxes, a laptop and as many as 124 mobile phones were seized after the bust took place.

C Eswara Rao, A Sivanaga Venkateswara Gupta, D Gopalakrishna Raju, K Praveen Kumar, Mekala Kalyan, Adapala Jagadeesh Prasad, and KS Teja of Rajamahendravaram were identified as accused, according to an Express News Service report.

Reportedly, Rao had organized betting at his home. Following the police’s raid in his house, Rao along with  Gupta were arrested. Rao told police about the people involved in betting, after which the cops raided Plot No. 504 in Sri Sai Heavens Apartment, taking four bookies in to custody.

Meanwhile In Hyderabad, police arrested two people for cricket betting, confiscating Rs 47,000. The prime suspect in the case is currently on the run.
