Another earthquake tremors of magnitude 4.4 in Gujarat; epicentre Bhachau in Kutch district

According to the details, the tremors were felt 83 km northwest (NW) of Rajkot, Gujarat at 12:57 pm today, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) confirmed.

Earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter Scale hit Gujarat on Monday. The tremors were felt in Kutch. According to the details, the tremors were felt 83 km northwest (NW) of Rajkot, Gujarat at 12:57 pm today, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) confirmed.

According to officials, the epicentre was near Bhachau in Kutch district.

There were no immediate reports of any loss to life or damage to property.

Earlier on Sunday, an earthquake of magnitude 5.5 on the Richter Scale had struck Gujarat’s Rajkot district. Several parts of the state including Ahmedabad had felt the tremors.

The epicentre of the earthquake is located 15 km away from Kutch where tremors were felt. It is reportedly close to the epicentre near Bhachau where an earthquake was reported on Sunday night.

Some houses in Kutch and adjoining districts developed cracks as per preliminary information.

The epicentre of the tremor was located near Bhachau in Kutch district. An official of the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR) said that the tremor was recorded at 8:13 pm.

Gujarat has witnessed three major earthquakes in the past with the most devastating in 2001, another in Anjar in 1956 and the third in 1918 in the Rann of Kutch. As per reports, the earthquake that struck Gujarat on January 26, 2001, measured 6.9 on the Richter scale and lasted for a little over 100 seconds.
