As the world is dealing with a horrifying situation, millions of people have been infected and lakhs of them are dead. Moreover, the number is surging day by day which has now lead us to a vulnerable position.

Scientists and doctors around the world are struggling hard to find vaccines. The Indian government decided to fight against COVID-19 by taking the help of Ayurveda. The AYUSH Ministry and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) are collaborating on four Ayurvedic formulations: Ashwagandha, Yashtimadhu, Guduchi and Pippali.

According to the research teams from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) Japan, they are exploring Ashwagandha’s possibility of possessing bio-actives to fight COVID-19. As per the studies, Ashwagandha can be used as an effective treatment and prevention drug against COVID-19 infection.

Eliminate stress to boost immunity:

Ashwagandha is an adaptogen that allows your body to cope with physical and mental stress more easily. This can improve the immune system and ensure overall health. It is also used in tranquilizers and antidepressants drugs.

Kills harmful and disease-causing microorganisms:

Since herbs have antibacterial properties, this can improve the ability of the macrophage cells to destroy or kill harmful and disease-causing microorganisms.

Reduce Lung Inflammation:

Ashwagandha can also protect the lungs from inflammation, which is one of the main side effects of COVID-19 infection. Inflammation of the lungs causes excessive production of cytokines and proteins that activate immune cells. Ayurvedic experts claim that this herb has anti-inflammatory properties that can inhibit this process.

Ashwagandha can be consumed in the following ways:

Doctors recommends 600 to 1000 milligrams, twice a day, in order to obtain the benefits of Ashwagandha.

You can eat ashwagandha powder that can be purchased in a medical store, or you can take two ashwagandha leaves and crush them gently with a mortar and pestle. Mix them in warm water and drink on an empty stomach in the morning.

Other than this, Ashwagandha has beauty benefits too. Its potent antioxidant properties help to prevent the skin against free radical damage and slow down the ageing by firming up your skin for a more young look. For glowing skin, Ashwagandha can be used as a toner with dried ginger and lemon.

Make sure to take Ashwagandha under the guidance of a reliable Ayurvedic practitioner. Natural compounds from Ashwagandha have the potential to be effective in COVID-19 preventive drugs.
