The much-awaited tripartite agreement between the Centre and all the factions of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) is likely to be inked on Monday, January 27. The senior leaders of the militant group have been in discussions with Centre’s interlocutor AB Mathur and officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, who are in Delhi since Thursday.
According to media reports, final discussions and negotiations are going on before inking the agreement.
Leader of NDFB (Progressive) Gobinda Basumatary said that “Some points remain to be agreed upon and the final negotiations are in process as of now. The leader also said that the agreement would be signed in the next one or two days.”
It needs to be mentioned that a total of fifty cadres of the proscribed outfit had returned to India from Myanmar through the Nagaland and Manipur international borders in order to discuss peace deals with the government.
On Thursday, all central committee members of B Saoraigwra-led NDFB (S), including the wanted rebel leader G Bidai, reached national capital for negotiations with the Centre. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has placed G Bidai on its most-wanted list.
On 12th January 2020, Defence sources stated, “A group of militants belonging to NDFB (P) cadre entered Manipur from Tamu side in Myanmar, its other members might have made their way to Nagaland through Longwa in the state’s Mon district. “The group that entered Nagaland has 27 people – 19 male members, six females, and two children. The other group apparently has more than ten rebels.”
