Assam: BPF fields Biswajit Daimary as candidate for Rajya Sabha

Assam’s Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) on Monday has announced that its sitting Member of Parliament Biswajit Daimary will be the party’s candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Hagrama Mohilary while talking to media on Monday, made this significant announcement of the party deciding to contest Daimary as a Rajya Sabha MP from the state from Bodo Territorial Region (BTR) for another term.

Mohilary told to the media that Daimari will file his nomination papers for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections on March 13.

BPF will also be meeting state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Ranjeet Kumar Dass to discuss over the matter.

Mohilary reiterates, BPF will also be participating in the upcoming BTC elections and the party is working on all ground level works for going to the polls.

BPF is also set to declare the third phase of candidates’ list by March 5 in which 10 names will be released.

BTC chief also stated, “BTC elections were held under the provision of the Election Commission but now, as said by the police officer, it will be looked after by the state police authorities. So a discussion needs to be done with CM Sonowal, and ask him about the truth.”

Mohilary has even expressed resentment over comments passed on by a high profile Assam police official who told that BTC election situation is on police officials, Mohilary has informed that he will discuss the matter with chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday.
