Amid the outbreak of COVID-19 an advisory states that the large gathering should be avoided, the Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government has decided to go ahead with a Ram Navami Mela in Ayodhya, which is likely to be attended by 1 million devotees.

The Yogi led government is going against its own advisories regarding the novel coronavirus. The Uttar Pradesh Government is all set for making the arrangements for the grand fair which is to be scheduled from March 25 to April 2.

The Ram Navami Mela has been an old tradition for Hindus and it is very significant this year as the Supreme Court has paved the way for the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

The Chief Medical Officer of Ayodhya, Ghanshyam Singh has raised his concerns over the Mela saying that the UP government does not have enough resources to ensure the safety of 10 lakh people during the coronavirus pandemic. He has advised the government to not hold the event this year.

The Ayodhya District Magistrate Anuj Kumar Jha has dismissed the concerns that were raised by the CMO and to this, he said that the Ram Navami Mela is a tradition and that they will take precautions but there is no plan to cancel the Ram Navami Mela.

The Head of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad for Ayodhya district Sharad Sharma and BJP leader Ved Prakash Gupta also do not want the event to get cancelled as it will be against the tradition and faith.
