Bhanu Saptami 2023: Date, Fasting and How to perform Puja, Rituals

Bhanu Saptami 2023: Bhanu Saptami will occur on Sunday, February 26 this year. The fact that the Saptami of the Phalgun month falls on a Sunday is a rare occurrence. The significance of worshipping the sun during the month of Phalgun is unique. In this month, the Sun should be worshipped in the form of Lord Vishnu, according to the scriptures.

On this day, people fast and pray to the Sun. Determine how to fast and worship on this day.

Offer prayers to the rising sun and observe a saltless fast.

How to perform Puja:

Before sunrise, rise early and fill a copper pot with pristine water. Add red sandalwood, red flowers, rice, and some wheat grains to the mixture. Then, one must present this water from the vessel to the rising sun while reciting the mantra “Om Ghruni Suryaya Namah.” Fold your hands and offer a namaskar to Lord Bhaskar. Additionally, you should recite the Gayatri Mantra and, if possible, the Aditya Hriday Stotra. In addition, you can chant the twelve names of Lord Surya.

How to fast:

Sit before the sun and resolve to fast without salt for the duration of the day. If possible, drink water throughout the day from a copper container. You should consume only one meal per day, and even then, make sure that it does not contain salt. Even when consuming falahari, salt consumption should be avoided. After offering arghya to the Sun, it is respectful to donate food, clothing, or any other useful item. Cows should be fed fodder, while other animals and birds should also be fed food.

Diseases do not affect you

When water is offered to the Sun on Bhanu Saptami, it promotes brain development and makes one more intelligent. It also provides the individual with mental peace and ensures that he or she never loses his or her sight, becomes poor, or is unhappy.

It is also believed that when one worships the sun, he or she is protected from all diseases and remains healthy. Donating on Bhanu Saptami increases one’s virtues, and even Maa Lakshmi is pleased by this. When one undertakes a fast on Bhanu Saptami with complete faith and devotion, the love between a father and son grows and deepens. It is also believed that on this day, based on one’s abilities, one should perform charitable acts, make donations to the poor and Brahmins, and seek their blessings.
