Every citizen in India has a right to vote in a democratic government. However, there are certain conditions made by the state. If you don’t have a voter ID and you are eligible to vote, you can still vote if your name is registered as a voter n the electoral rolls.

To be registered as a voter, all you need to do is submit a form-6 to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of your assembly constituency and your name will appear in the list. The form can be submitted both online and offline.

You can carry any of the following documents to cast your vote without a voting ID:

  • Passport
  • Driving license
  • Service identity cards with photographs issued to employees by central/state govt./PSU/public limited company
  • Passbook with photograph issued by a state bank or post office
  • PAN card
  • A smart card issued by RGI under NPR
  • MNREGA job card
  • Health Insurance smart card issued under the scheme of the Ministry of Labour
  • Pension document with a photograph
  • Official identity cards issued to MPs/MLA/MLCs, etc.
  • Adhaar Card

Once a citizen is enrolled, ECI will issue a voter slip that confirms your name in the Voter ID list. The voter identification is mandatory and no citizen will be allowed to vote if their name is not registered.
