Bihar beef attack: Our morale boosted as BJP is part of government, says BJP member

Ever since the formation of the JDU-BJP government in Bihar, the fringe saffron outfits have become active. Days after workers of Bajrang Dal and locals have detained a truck carrying beef in Bhojpur district and thrashed at least one of three men inside the truck, BJP state executive committee member, Bhuwar Ojha has said that now as the BJP is part of the state government their morale has been boosted.

Not only that he also described Rani Sagar and Bagahi, which are the only Muslim dominated areas in the Shapur assembly segment, as the “problem areas.” He said the state’s top BJP brass had told him to ensure that “no untoward incident takes place”.

Ojha told the Indian Express, “We had been telling police for some time about an illegal slaughterhouse in the Rani Sagar area of Shapur but they would not listen to us. Now that the BJP is part of the state government, our morale has been boosted.” He also said that they were not going to hold protests because they should not be protesting against their “own government now”.

The truck was loaded with beef and was stopped by Bajrang Dal workers and locals on NH-84. The area falls under Shahpur police station and the beef allegedly was being meant to be smuggled.

Reportedly, these people were getting info about beef being smuggled from Ranisagar village in Shahpu for the last several days. Finally, on Thursday morning the Bajrang Dal activists again got a tip off about a truck overloaded with beef. Once the truck reached the NH-84, it was stopped by the locals who found several quintals of beef.

“A truck loaded with beef was intercepted by locals. We have seized the truck and arrested three persons in this regard. Further investigation is on,” said Daya Shankar, SDPO, Jagdishpur.
