Bihar coronavirus updates: Parts of Gaya sealed, Patna crosses 1k case mark

The stream of novel coronavirus is at its peak in India. With each passing day, the tally of the total number of infections is spiking up. COVID-19 cases in Bihar has crossed the 11k mark. With 349 fresh cases, the total number of positive cases has surged to 11,460. Till now 2,51,097 samples have been tested in the state. 8,488 patients have been recovered from the virus and 2,880 cases are active in Bihar.

Of the 349 patients found on Saturday, the highest 53 patients were the residents of Saharasha, and 44 patients were reported in Muzaffarpur. With 24 new cases in Patna on Saturday, the tally in the district crossed the 1k mark.

In particular, seven family people including Bihar Legislative Council executive chairman Awadhesh Narain Singh along with his wife, and son were tested positive for COVID-19. This week, he administered the oath to all the nine newly elected MLCs. The programme was attended by several ministers including CM Nitish Kumar, Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi.

Parts of Gaya sealed:

With the increment in the novel coronavirus cases in Gaya district, the administration sealed several areas. 34 people were tested positive for the virus on Saturday. The sealed areas will only be opened for emergency services. These areas include New Godown Road, Chowk, Ramna Road, Bajaja Road, Sarai Road, KP Road, JB Road, Bari Road, BN Jha Road, Tikari Road, and Murarpur Road.

Muzaffarpur bans entry of patients in ten hospitals:

Over 38 people in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar have been tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday. Out of 38 people, 21 are doctors. With this, the number of doctors affected by coronavirus infection has increased to 31 in the last three days. Meanwhile, the district administration has banned recruitment and OPD service in ten hospitals and clinics in the city. After a large number of doctors been affected by the virus, the health department is now tracking the people who came in contact with the infected. The positive patients were shifted to the COVID Care Center late at night. Infected doctors and health workers are advised to stay-at-home quarantine.

Wedding in Bihar: The biggest COVID-19 chain

Bihar wedding ceremony that turned into a nightmare and grabbed the attention across India was attended by over 400 people. The 26-year-old groom with COVID-19 symptoms died one day after his wedding. The marriage ceremony left infected several people that were part of the wedding. The Paliganj area was sealed as soon as the news broke out. Moreover, an FIR has been lodged against the groom’s father for violating the lockdown wedding rules.

Meanwhile, according to the Union Health Ministry, 24,850 new cases were recorded in the 24 hours since 8 am on Saturday. The total is now 6,73,165 roughly 1,400 cases behind Russia, which is the third worst-hit nation from coronavirus. With the improvement in the recovery rate which is 60.80 percent now, the total number of coronavirus recoveries stands at 3,94,227.
