Bihar Election Results 2020: MGB leads in Magadh and Bhojpur, NDA in Tirhut and Angika region

Counting of votes across 55 counting centres in Bihar begun at 8 am today

NDA led by JDU and Nitish Kumar has overtaken the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan and has gained leads in over 125 seats, which is over the required majority of 122 assembly seats. Counting of votes across 55 counting centres in Bihar begun at 8 am today

All eyes are on the counting across 55 centres in the state to see the outcome. Bihar has recorded a higher voter turnout in the 2020 Bihar assembly election as compared to the 2015 election despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Election Commission of India Tuesday underlined that the significant ground was yet to be covered as only 1 crore of the total 4.10 crore votes had been counted and said that the final result was expected to come by late tonight. “Earlier, there used to be 25-26 rounds of counting, but this time it went up to around 35 rounds. So the counting will continue till late evening,” Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Bihar, HR Srinivas said.

Others: 2

The BJP is emerging as the single-largest party in Bihar. It is currently leading in 76 seats, while its alliance partner JD(U) in 48. While the BJP contested on 110 seats, the JD(U) fielded its candidates in 115 seats. The RJD, which had won the highest number of seats in the last Assembly election in 2015, is at number 2 currently – leading in 65 of 144 seats it contested.

The fate of 3,755 candidates across 243 seats will be decided with the Election Commission setting up a total of 55 counting centres, housing 414 halls, spread across 38 districts of the state that voted in three phases on October 28, November 3 and November 7.
