Nitish Kumar is all set to take oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the fourth straight term today afternoon. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at Raj Bhavan in Patna in the presence of Governor Phagu Chauhan. Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) finished at the third spot with 43 seats, way behind second-placed BJP which got 74 seats. The remaining two NDA partners – HAM and VIP – secured four seats each. The ceremony will be attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda.

In another related development, BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav is set to be the Speaker in the new Assembly. Nand Kishore won from the Patna Sahib Assembly seat. The Speaker’s post has been with the JDU ever since he took over a decade and a half ago.
Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD said they will boycott the oath-taking ceremony of chief minister-designate Nitish Kumar. “The public gave the mandate to change which is against the NDA,” says the party.
