In a gruesome incident that took place on Sunday, a woman was set ablaze by a man who had attempted to rape her but failed in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district.
According to a media report, the victim sustained 80 percent burn when she was admitted to Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur. The investigation into the matter is underway.
The girl’s mother told that Raja Rai, who lives next door, had been harassing her daughter for a long time. Later, she had to leave her studies due to fear. She was a student of Bachelors of Art. A complaint has been filed to Ahiyapur police many times but till now the police have not taken any action. On our complaint, the police used to return to her. Instead of acting on it, there was pressure to compromise.
The victim is the youngest of four children. Two daughters are married while the son lives in Patna.
Due to being in a government job in Katra herself, the girl used to stay alone at home during the day. Seeing no help from the police, two months ago he came forward and proposed to marry the accused, but his father refused. The girl’s actions and our lives had become difficult due to the actions of the boy.
