As many as 25 Dalits in Sanjheli village of Bihar’s Katihar district alleged that few bike-borne miscreants in connivance with the land mafia set their houses on fire on Sunday.

Going by the reports, the victims belonging to the schedule caste families have filed a complaint with the SC/ST police station claiming that a group of influential people have been eyeing to grab the land owned by their forefathers since last several decades.

According to the complaint, bike-borne miscreants brought along arms and began torching their homes on Sunday.

The early investigation and police statement suggests that the incident was a fallout of land dispute. The superintendent of Katihar police said that the matter is under investigation and necessary action will be taken.
