Congress sets ball rolling for election of new president

New Delhi, January 6: Senior Bihar Indian National Congress leader and former MLA from Lalganj, Bharat Singh has made a major statement. The leader claimed that 11 Congress MLAs could defect to Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United). Singh said that these legislators had joined the grand old party ahead of 2020 Bihar assembly polls after being denied ticket by JDU.

“The 11 MLAs who could leave the Congress are guided by state president Madan Mohan Jha, Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh and senior leader Sadanand Singh. The nominations from Governor’s quota are yet to be done. Madan Mohan and Sadanand are eyeing entry to the Legislative Council,” Singh said.

Singh said that he was against the Congress’ alliance with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) from the beginning. “The party should still break away from the RJD. In order to save Congress in Bihar, action should be taken against people engaged in anti-party activities,” the former MLA was quoted as saying by Live Hindustan.
