Bihar Polls 2020: Stage breaks down during Chandrika Rai's election rally, several injured

Bihar Assembly Elections 2020 is all set to begin on October 28. Parties are prepping and have kick-started their election rallies. In this episode, during Chandrika Rai’s address for the upcoming Bihar elections, the stage collapsed and many people got injured. The reason for the collapse is the gathering of people in large numbers.

Chandrika Rai is contesting as a JD(U) candidate from Parsa assembly  constituency of Sonpur. His massive supporters were present during his nomination process.

The JD(U) leader was accompanied by BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy, local MLA, and several NDA leaders during the meeting. From the stage to the rally, social distancing was not maintained.

Rai quit the Rashtriya Janata Dal due to the marital dispute between his daughter and RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son Tej Pratap Yadav. He left the Rashtriya Janata Dal on in August 2020 and on the same day, he joined Janata Dal (United) in the presence of cabinet minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission, in an advisory, said that while there is a ban on exit polls, the prediction of poll results in the media by astrologers, tarot readers, and analysts is a violation of the electoral law. The notice asked both electronic and print, to “refrain” from airing and publishing such programmes during the prohibited period to ensure free, fair, and transparent polls.

Bihar goes to polls on October 28, November 3, and 7. The election results will be declared on November 10.
