Bihar: Purnea IG succumbs to COVID-19 at AIIMS Patna

Purnea IG Binod Kumar succumbed to COVID-19 at AIIMS Patna, earlier on Sunday morning. He was admitted here three days back after contracting the deadly coronavirus.

According to police sources, his last rites will be performed in Patna. His family is on way to Patna. Two Bihar ministers passed away recently due to COVID. Bihar minister Kapil Deo Kamat of the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) passed away on October 16. The state’s Minister for Backward and Extremely Backward Classes Welfare Vinod Singh passed away in Delhi on Monday. The 50-year-old minister was a BJP MLA from the Pranpur assembly constituency of Katihar district in northeast Bihar. He was thrice elected to the assembly from the constituency.

Earlier, Bihar BJP MLC Sunil Kumar Singh died of the Covid pandemic at AIIMS-Patna in July.

Upon the death of two ministers due to covid-19 within a week, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, accused the state government of not doing enough to tackle COVID-19.

BJP and JD(U) announced the seat-sharing deal for the Bihar Assembly Elections that is all set to contest in three phases. JD (U), will contest 122 seats and the BJP 121 seats in the 243-member assembly. The BJP also reiterated that the alliance is fighting the election under Nitish Kumar’s leadership.
