Bihar: Sub-Inspector, two constables suspended for not checking Minister’s car

Patna: Three policemen were suspended for allowing Union minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey’s vehicle go through without vehicle’s paper verification during a drive to ensure implementation of the amended motor vehicles act on Sunday, September 8, according to an official statement said.

According to an NDTV report, the vehicle was being driven by Arijit Choubey – son of Union Minister of State for Health Ashwini Kumar Choubey. Other family members were also in the vehicle, it said.

The three policemen – Sub-Inspector Devpal Paswan and constables Dilip Chandra Singh, Pappu Kumar, were suspended by the SSP (Traffic) on a direction by the Patna Commissioner, the statement said.

The situation erupted during Patna Commissioner Anand Kishore and Superintendent of Police (Traffic) D Amarkesh’ monitoring a drive by the city police to ensure implementation of the Motor Vehicles (Amended) Act 2019 near the Bihar museum, Bailey road.

Arijit Choubey was asked to stop the car by the police. But, as none of the policemen approached the vehicle, the minister’s son drove away, according to the statement.
