Cases of sexual misconduct against women in Bihar is increasing day by day. Yet another case of sexual assault has come to light where a 15-year old boy was arrested for allegedly raping an 80-year-old woman in at a village in Madhubani district of north Bihar.
Going by the various media reports, the incident took place at Jamaila village under the Andhrathadi police station limits late Wednesday night. Police said that the accused, who is a distant relative of the woman, allegedly raped her around midnight and tried to muffle her screams by forcing a piece of cloth into her mouth. However, the noises alerted the woman’s family members who rushed to catch the boy.

The accused was beaten up blue-black before being handing over to police. An FIR was lodged on the basis of a complaint made by the woman’s daughter-in-law.
In a statement to the police, the complainant claimed that the accused is an adult and his certificates which showed him as a minor were fake. However police officials said that this would be ascertained through medical examination. Meanwhile, the accused was sent to judicial custody after being produced before a magistrate.
