Bihar: Two cops shot dead, one injured by criminals during crossfire in Saran

The criminals used advanced automatic weapons to attack the cops.

A police sub-inspector and constable were shot dead while another left injured in an exchange of fire between the cops and a gang of criminals in Saran district of Bihar late on Tuesday evening.

The deceased have been identified as sub-inspector Mithlesh Kumar Shah and constable Mohammad Afroz. The two officers were posted with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Chapra.

Going by the reports, the firing began at Marhuara market under the Marhuara PS limits when the SIT was conducting an investigation into a case. As soon as the firing began, a commotion broke out into the streets and people started running desperately to safer places.

Upon receiving the information of the incident, several troops of police rushed to the spot. The injured constable was rushed to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in critical condition.

According to reports, the criminals used advanced automatic weapons to attack the police team.

The police has begun investigation in this case. Several police teams have been formed and raids are being conducted in adjoining areas to apprehend the assailants.
