In an embarrassment just few days ahead of Lok Sabha polls, Gujarat Bharatiya Janata Party chief Jitu Vaghani’s son Meet Vaghani was caught cheating during university examinations on Thursday.

Meet Vaghani, a student of Swami Vivekanand College of Computer Science, affiliated to Bhavnagar University, was appearing for second semester BCA exam, where he was reportedly caught with 27 chits.

Meet was appearing for the exam at M J College of Commerce. Principal Kanjibhai Vataliya is believed to have caught him with 27 chits during supervision.

A complaint was registered against Meet with Bhavnagar University and proof submitted to the VC.

Vaghani was reportedly quoted in the local media as stating that if his son was found guilty, he should be punished as per rules and that he would not interfere in the process.

The incident, which comes just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in the country, is seen as the embarrassment for senior Vaghani. Vaghani has won two consecutive elections from Bhavnagar West assembly segment.

The incident is not first of its kind when politicians’ wards were caught cheating in examinations. Last year, son of Congress MLA Shakuntala Khatik from Madhya Pradesh was caught cheating in BA exams. The video of Nitin Khatik’s cheating went viral on social media.
