New Delhi, May 15 (IANS) The BJP held a silent protest here on Wednesday against the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government in wake of violence during BJP President Amit Shah’s roadshow in Kolkata which saw a bust of Bengali polymath Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar being destroyed.

Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, Harsh Vardhan, Vijay Goel and Jitendra Singh participated at the protest at the Jantar Mantar area along with party workers, who sported black bands on their arms and held up placards reading ‘Save Bengal, Save Democracy’.

Clashes broke out between members of the Trinamool Congress students’ union and BJP supporters who participated in Shah’s roadshow in north Kolkata on Tuesday evening, following which the Vidyasagar College was vandalised and the bust destroyed.
