BJP chief, Amit Shah on Monday has said that his party had no role in resignation of Nitish Kumar. “Nitish Kumar resigned because of his differences with Lalu Prasad Yadav and intolerance against corruption. BJP has no role to play in whatever had happened in Bihar,” he said.

Shah was on three-day visit to Lucknow. Focused on 2019 polls, he is all set to win Samajwadi Party’s ‘Yadav base’ in Uttar Pradesh. He met party workers and reportedly told them to focus more on inducting ‘Yadavs’ in BJP.

On Sunday, he visited a booth level party worker along with CM Adityantah, deputy CM, Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma. Reportedly, Shah has asked the workers to search for Yadavs and Dalits eager to join the party and enroll them as members.

The backward castes including Yadavs constitute almost 40% of Uttar Pradesh’s population. Several have voted for BJP in 2014 Lok Sabha and 2017 UP state assembly elections. Now, the BJP wants to capitalize the same in 2019 polls.

Shah has also made it clear that “Keshav Prasad Maurya will continue to work in the state government. He is not going to central government.”
