BJP, Police conspired to attack Delhi CM: Sisodia

New Delhi, Nov 20 (IANS) Hours after the attack on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the whole incident was a conspiracy hatched by the BJP and Delhi Police.

“This is a conspiracy. The BJP does not have any work to show. They along with Delhi Police are trying to attack the Delhi Chief Minister,” Sisodia told reporters here.

He said it was not possible that in a place where even journalists were not allowed without checking, “a man just walked in with chilli powder.”

“This is not possible without the involvement of Delhi Police, which is working at the orders of BJP.”

Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Delhi convenor Gopal Rai strongly condemned the attack and said party volunteers will hold a protest at the BJP headquarters on Wednesday.

AAP’s national spokesperson Raghav Chadha, who was a witness to the attack on Kejriwal at the Delhi Secretariat, also attacked Delhi police.

“I do not think that police in any other state in India is as careless with respect to the security of the Chief Minister of their state. This is a case of either sheer carelessness or negligence,” Chadha said.

Chadha said that he was just a few steps away when the attacker, Anil Kumar Sharma, moved towards the Chief Minister without being intercepted by any security personnel.

“There is no possible justification as to how such an individual was not only allowed to enter the Secretariat which is a high-security zone but reach the third floor and go as far as the Chief Minister’s chamber, all this while carrying a matchbox and chilli powder,” he said.

Saurabh Bhardwaj, the party’s chief spokesperson, said: “The message from the Central government and Delhi Police is clear. Anyone can attack the Delhi Chief Minister. The attackers will be protected by the police and no action will be taken.”
