Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor slashes down his fees to Rs 25 crore for his next 'Jersey'

The Bollywood actor, Shahid Kapoor who is shooting for his next ‘Jersey’, took a pay cut to help the makers of the film affected by the COVID pandemic.

According to a report published by Pinkvilla, the Kabir Singh actor slashed down his fee to Rs 25 crore.

“Shahid had previously signed Jersey on two conditions – a remuneration of Rs 33 crore and a percentage in the profit share. The makers had mutually agreed on the same demands and the film shoot was on when the COVID outbreak caused a temporary pause in the film’s schedule. In the last few months, the whole perspective of making a film and its budget has changed considerably. So the producers requested their lead star to take a pay cut, to keep the project on floors. They felt the film will otherwise go over-budget”, sources said Pinkvilla.

Shahid Kapoor is the lead of the Hindi remake of Telugu film ‘Jersey’. Initially, there was a talk that Shahid has got a whopping paycheck close to Rs 35 crore for the film. A trade expert close to the film also adds that Shahid will also keep 30% of the profit share.

The sports drama film will also star Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapoor as the lead roles. The film will be helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri.
