12:30 PM| Retired Supreme Court (SC) Justice P B Sawant passed away in Pune on Monday morning. He was 91.

“He passed away at his residence at 9.30 am today due to age related issues. He was 91 and had not been keeping well from more than the last one month. His death has caused an irreparable damage to legal and social fraternity. He is survived by his wife and three children and their families,” said former Judge of Bombay High Court, BG Kolse Patil, who has had a long association with Justice Sawant.

As many as 15 people died, two injured after a vehicle overturned near Kingaon village in Yawal taluka of Jalgaon district in Maharashtra on Sunday night.


Sensex reached over 500 points to scale the 52,000 mark for the first time in early trade on Monday. The 30-stock index rose 566 points to 52,110 against the previous close of 51,544. Nifty too hit an all-time high of 15,314, rising 151 points against the previous close of 15,163.
