India registers 1,52,879 fresh infections reported since yesterday, setting another grim one-day record as the country’s COVID-19 tally reached over 1.33 crore cases on Sunday. 839 deaths in the last 24 hour pushed the total death count to 1.69 lakh.

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to give COVID-19 vaccine jabs to maximum eligible people, India will hold the second day of the mass COVID-19 vaccination festival, ‘Tika Utsav’, on Monday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to hold a series of roadshows and public meetings in poll-bound West Bengal today, ahead of the fifth phase of assembly elections in the state.

China’s top disease control official has said the country is formally considering mixing Covid-19 vaccines, as a way of further boosting vaccine efficacy. Available data shows Chinese vaccines lag behind others including Pfizer and Moderna in terms of efficacy, but require less stringent temperature controls during storage.

In view of rising COVID-19 cases, the Mathura district administration has imposed a night curfew with immediate effect, an official said on Sunday. The curfew would be from 9 pm to 6 am every day, till further orders, District Magistrate (DM) Navneet Singh Chahal said.
