Breaking News LIVE, July 15: It was a warm and humid day in Delhi on Friday with the maximum temperature settling at 38.5 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, the India Meteorological Department said. The capital is likely to witness a generally cloudy sky with light rain and thundershowers at a few places on Saturday, according to the IMD.

Sessions Court of Patiala House Court grants bail to Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair in the alleged tweet case. Court said accused Mohd Zubair can’t leave the country without prior permission of the court; granted him bail on a personal bail bond of Rs 50,000.

Katrina Kaif's 'Phone Bhoot' to release on November 4

''Phone Bhoot'', starring Katrina Kaif, Ishaan Khatter, and Siddhant Chaturvedi, will be released in theatres on November 4. The supernatural-comedy is directed by Gurmmeet Singh of “Mirzapur” fame and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s banner Excel Entertainment. Akhtar took to Twitter to share the new release date of the movie, which was earlier scheduled to hit the theatres on October 7.

70% of Germans back Ukraine despite high energy prices - poll

Some 70% of those polled backed Germany's support for Ukraine, though the number of people who wanted stronger military support dropped to 35% from 44% in early July, found the survey conducted between July 12-14 by broadcaster ZDF. Twenty-two percent said they did not want Germany to support Ukraine, with the goal of returning to lower energy prices, it added. Just 20% found them satisfactory. The survey polled 1,167 randomly selected voters by phone.

World Bank chafes at lower capital requirements recommended in G20 report -sources

The World Bank is seeking to block release of a report prepared for the Group of 20 major economies that calls for lowering the bank's capital requirements to boost its lending capacity, four sources familiar with the matter said. Proponents of the independent report - due be released on the sidelines of a meeting of G20 finance officials in Indonesia this week - believe the changes would free up much-needed funds for poorer countries at a time when high inflation is making it difficult for rich nations to boost spending overseas.

China will agree to $4 billion aid 'at some point' - Bloomberg News

Man rapes, strangles 10-year-old daughter in Bhiwandi, held

A 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped and strangled to death by her father in Bhiwandi town of Maharashtra's Thane district, police said on Friday. The police have arrested the 34-year-old accused for the crime that took place on Thursday, senior inspector C R Kakade of Bhiwandi town police station said. Will not permit unmarried woman to terminate pregnancy at 23 weeks: Delhi HC

The Delhi High Court on Friday said it will not permit an unmarried woman to undergo medical termination of pregnancy at 23 weeks, saying it virtually amounts to killing the fetus.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, while dealing with the petition by the woman to undergo the procedure, however, suggested that the petitioner be kept "somewhere safe" until she delivers the child who can subsequently be given up for adoption.

China's economic growth falls to 0.4 per cent amid virus shutdowns

China's economic growth plunged to 0.4 per cent over a year earlier in the latest quarter after Shanghai and other cities were shut down to fight coronavirus outbreaks, but the government said a "stable recovery" is underway. Growth slid from the previous quarter's already-weak 1.3 per cent after restrictions were imposed starting in late March but activity improved in May and June, the National Bureau of Statistics announced Friday. The anti-virus controls disrupted shipping in Shanghai, the world's busiest port, and disrupted manufacturing there and in other major cities. Millions of families were confined to their homes, depressing consumer spending. Most economic forecasters expect China to fail to hit the ruling Communist Party's 5.5 per cent growth target this year.
