Bollywood actor and former Bigg Boss contestant Ajaz Khan was detained by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday in connection with a drug case, an official said.


Delhi on Tuesday recorded 992 new cases of Covid-19 infections, taking the total tally of cases to 6,60,611. 4 deaths were also recorded in the last 24 hours, the death toll now stands at 11,016, reported news agency ANI.


Punjab CM extends Covid-19 restrictions till April 10

Chief minister Amarinder Singh after reviewing the Covid-19 situation in Punjab, in a meeting with the chief secretary and other top officials, extended restrictions that were in place till March 31 till April 10, reported news agency ANI.


The rupee slumped by 87 paise to close at 73.38 (provisional) against the US currency on Tuesday as rising crude oil prices and a strong American currency weighed on investor sentiment. At the interbank forex market, the local unit opened at 72.85 against the greenback and traded in the range of 72.77-73.47 during the day. The rupee finally ended at 73.38 against the American currency, registering a fall of 87 paise over its previous closing.

India recorded 68,020 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours on Monday, the highest single-day rise so far this year, taking the country’s COVID-19 tally to above 1.20 crore, according to Union Health Ministry data.

Maharashtra on Monday added 31,643 fresh infections, but the lower tally was attributed to reduced testing because of the Holi holiday. The state has recorded close to six lakh cases this month and registered over 2,100 deaths.


An aircraft-shaped balloon with ‘PIA’ written on it was recovered by Jammu and Kashmir police in the Kanachak area of Jammu. This is the third such instance. Similar balloons were recovered by the police on March 10 and 16 in Sotra Chak village of Hiranagar sector and Bhalwal area of Jammu respectively.
