Bypolls across 51 assembly seats, two Lok Sabha constituencies across 17 states and one union territory today, Monday, October 21. Assembly elections are also being conducted in Haryana and Maharashtra constituencies.

Voting for 90 seats of Haryana, where the BJP is an eyeing an easy victory, began at 7 am on Monday. Polling for 288 Assembly constituencies of Maharashtra where BJP is seeking a second straight term in the began at 7 am Monday.

11, the most number of seats going to bypolls are in Uttar Pradesh. These are: Pratapgarh, Zaidpur, Balha, Ghosi, Gangoh, Govind Nagar, Rampur, Iglas, Lucknow Cantonment, Manikpur, Jalalpur. Among these the maximum candidates, 13 each, are from Lucknow Cantonment and Jalalpur assembly constituencies, followed by 12 in Ghosi and 11 each in Gangoh, Pratapgarh and Balha (SC).

A four-cornered contest will be witnessed on all seats of Uttar Pradesh with the BJP, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress trying their luck.

Nine candidates each are in the fray in Govind Nagar and Manikpur. Seven candidates each will contest the bypolls from Rampur, Iglas (SC) and Zaidpur (SC).
