Bengaluru, Dec 17 (IANS) Several people in Bengaluru are planning counter protests or solidarity shows in favour of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the next few days.
“We are organising a rally in support of CAA, National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). We support the government for taking these steps,” Neeraj Kamat, a freelancer in the IT industry, told IANS.
Kamat said around 60 to 100 like-minded people are meeting at the Swami Vivekananda statue in Vijayanagar on Tuesday night to plan solidarity show to proclaim that CAA, UCC and NRC are steps in the right direction for the betterment of this country.
Chetan Azad, another person supporting the CAA, invited enthusiasts to join a rally at HSR Layout, a posh locality in the eastern part of the city near Kormangla, on December 20.
The hashtag #ISupport CAA has been trending on Twitter.
Kamat said the CAA has been passed in the Parliament through a humongous process and people should understand its legitimacy. He also expressed confidence that the act will pass the judicial scrutiny.
