A Canadian actor and musician who received acclaim at a young age is remembered as an inspiring artist who lived “the best life” and worked until her death.

Samantha Weinstein, age 28, passed away on May 14 at Toronto’s Princess Margaret Hospital, two and a half years after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Weinstein had been an actress since the age of six, with multiple credits to her name, including the portrayal of numerous animated television characters.

Sam was a living manifestation of a sunbeam, according to her father, David Weinstein.

“She exuded so much positive energy. Anyone who has ever encountered her would say that she illuminated every room she entered.

Weinstein portrayed the high school student Heather in the 2013 remake of “Carrie,” staring Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore, and Audrey in the 2011 comedy “Jesus Henry Christ,” starring Toni Collette.

As a juvenile, she starred in “Big Girl,” which won the 2005 Toronto International Film Festival award for Best Canadian Short Film.

This role also earned her the 2006 ACTRA award for female performance of the year. At the age of 10, she became the earliest recipient of this honour.

Her father stated that she was also a “very prolific” voice actor, a field she enjoyed because “she could let loose and be crazy… and have fun.”

The importance of philanthropy in Weinstein’s existence is noteworthy.

In recent weeks, despite her illness, she was still in the studio working on “Mittens & Pants” and “Dino Ranch,” he said.

She was the main vocalist and guitarist for the Toronto-based garage rock band Killer Virgins.

Her father stated that after her cancer diagnosis, Weinstein resolved to live the best life she could, which included travel to Japan and Hawaii, among other locations.

According to her parents, philanthropy was an integral part of her life, and she had asked them to continue donating to various charities after her passing.

And there is more to Weinstein’s legacy, according to her mother.

Jojo Tindall-Weinstein stated, “The one thing that has really struck me in the last week or so is that everyone I’ve spoken to says she changed their life.”

“And I’m aware that this sounds extremely dramatic, but when people say this, they are quite sincere. Her contagious, optimistic attitude has altered the lives of others.”

In addition to her spouse and sister, Weinstein is also survived by other relatives.
