The ‘Kanwar Yatra’ is an annual pilgrimage of Lord Shiva’s devotees that started Thursday. The Kanwariyas (pilgrims) visit places like Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand and Sultanganj in Bihar to fetch the holy water of River Ganga.
All arrangements have been made for the yatra and police are committed to making it a success, Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar said.
Notably, East Delhi will be a transit point on route for Kanwariyas hailing from different states like Haryana, Rajasthan and others.
As part of the annual yatra, kanwariyas (devotees of Lord Shiva) from different parts of the country collect water from the Ganga river at Haridwar in Uttarakhand to offer at Shiva temples back home.
The Uttarakhand government constituted a five-member committee to be led by Desai, to prepare a draft proposal for the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the hill state.

Informing about the resignation State BJP President Madan Kaushik told ANI, “The resignation of MLA Kailash Gehtodi has also been accepted. Chief Minister will now contest from this seat.”
The Commission has not increased fixed charges for domestic category consumers consuming up to 100 units per month, however, the tariff has been increased by 10 paise per unit.
