Uttar Pradesh is one of the states worst-hit by COVID-19 in the country. It reported 31,165 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, which pushed its active cases tally to 2,62,474.
According to Varanasi Commissioner Deepak Agrawal, 90 per cent of work has been completed and the rest of the work will be completed within two days.

He said though some districts have shown a steady decline in COVID-19 cases, some others are still exhibiting an upward trend, but the number of patients under treatment has dropped from what it was in April-end.
Five COVID-19 patients, including a woman, died at a private hospital on Tuesday in Roorkee in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district allegedly due to disruption in oxygen supply to the facility for around 30 minutes.
“Any passenger coming by flight without the report will have to stay in quarantine for 14 days and the airport authorities will have to make an arrangement for that,” the chief minister added.
Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar told reporters that a downward trend had started in the new cases and hoped that the situation would soon become normal.
Amid the spike in the COVID-19 cases across the state, the Uttar Pradesh government on Monday announced the extension of the partial lockdown till May 6.
Though it is alleged that the patients died due to oxygen shortage, senior officials said it is not the case as the hospital has sufficient stock.
Both Rapid Antigen and RT PCR tests conducted on him under the supervision of his personal physician Dr M. V. Rao on Tuesday have come negative.
The incident occurred in the early hours on Tuesday when oxygen supply to the hospital remained disrupted between 1.30 and 2 am, a doctor at the hospital said.
According to the health bulletin, the state has 4,64,363 active cases whereas 12,10,013 people have been discharged so far including 24,714 people on Tuesday.
State IEC Bureau deputy director Archana Mundir said vaccination will be on the basis of pre-registration, and will take place between 9am and 5pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The Bihar crisis management group has been directed to issue detailed lockdown-related guidelines and other protocols in this regard by this day.
Haryana currently has 1,04,722 active COVID-19 cases, as per the union health ministry data.
The state government should inform the court about whether a complete lockdown will be imposed in Bihar or not, it said, directing the government to submit a report by Tuesday.

”The corona curfew from Friday 8 pm to Tuesday 7 am has been extended for 48 hours. Now it will continue till May 6 till 7 am,” Additional Chief Secretary, Information, Navneet Sehgal told PTI.
