The hashtag #cgl19marks on Tuesday started trending on Twitter, with more than 36 lakh tweets so far. Not only that, the students have made real preparations for the 25th of February. As of 11 am on February 25, students have planned to have millions of tweets on this hashtag and are ready to trend on different social media platforms.

The entire controversy is about the combined graduate level (CGL) examination of the Staff Selection Commission. Through UPSC, where Group A officers are recruited in central services, there is large-scale recruitment for Group B and Group C posts of central services through SSC (CGL). SSC directly comes under the Department of Personnel and Training, central government.

CGL 19 Marks: What is the reason for the whole protest?

The protest on Twitter began after the result of Tier 2 on February 19. Unlike every year, marks were not issued with the result of Tier 2, but a cutoff was issued. The protesting students say the November 18 paper was easy and the students scored quite a good score. However, when the result came, there were not many students who had made a good score.

“From the cut-off announced, 80-100 marks have been cut from the November 18 exam, while those who gave exams on November 15 and 16, their marks have been increased from 30 to 80,” says Mohit, a student who qualified the tier two of SSC 2019, told NBT online.

No response has been given on the part of what the SSC has prescribed for its normalization. The students are apprehensive of any disturbance. The students are demanding that the government should issue at least tier-2 marks so that the confusion about normalization can be overcome to a great extent.
